Diversity Protection

To what extent does the cultivation and extraction of the raw materials necessary to produce this product enhance the diversity of life, that is, aids the greater biospheric services of the planet, the localised eco systems (species and habitat protection) and preserves the associated knowledge, customs and prosperity of the indigenous cultures of the territory?

Biospherically Correct

Our gift packs encompass our range of skin and hair care products which are formulated in ways that protect the diversity of life and honour the knowledge and skills of the people who supply and/or work with the raw ingredients. The ingredients are natural, some organic and some wild harvested, creating work and prosperity for indigenous people.

We are proud to say that there are no harsh petrochemical-derived surfactants (detergents) in our hair care products. These plant based cleansers are biodegradable and when they enter our water ways they do not cause bioconcentration - the up take of water-born chemicals by fish and other aquatic organisms by non dietary means. Palm oil and Sodium Lauryl Sulphate free.

Our products are palm oil and Sodium Lauryl Sulphate free and are not tested on animals in any way.

The wood fibre used to make cardboard gift boxes is sourced from sustainable forestry and inks are pertochemical free.

Green Ingredients

Do the ingredients in the product meet the criteria for being 'green ingredients', that is, organic and/or natural, high yielding and sustainable?

Biospherically Correct

Our stylish gift pack boxes are carefully crafted to protect natural resources and avoid environmental damage. The cardboard is made with wood fibre from sustainable forests and any paper used has been recycled. Adhesive labels are biodegradable and all inks are vegetable based.

All of the ingredients in our skin care products are natural - i.e. non synthesised and/or organic and crafted in New Zealand on a specialised herbal farm. We use a unique natural preservative system combining the anti aging, healing and preservative properties of citrus bioflavanoids and Totarol which is extracted from old recycled bark from the NZ native Totara tree.

The hair care products are made with natural, plant based ingredients and preservatives. They do not contain parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS), artificial fragrances or colours. Surfactants (detergents and foaming agents) are sourced from renewable, plant derived raw materials that do not irritate or pollute our waterways. We are proud to say that our shampoos and stylers are 100% natural, while our conditioners are virtually 100% natural.

Biospherically Correct

Our gift boxes can be proudly given with the confidence of knowing that that they will delight and that the products will fulfil or exceed expectations regarding their function as cleansers and moisturisers.

The box is designed to avoid excessive packaging componentry while remaining stylish and elegant, proving that less can indeed be more. We use plastic and glass containers as part of our refill/recycle system (see Eco Processes). All paper and cardboard is from sustainable supply, recycled and printed with vegetable inks.

The Butterfly Love Gift Boxes are subtly printed with the words love, forgiveness, compassion, tolerance and integrity, encouraging a personal feel good factor and a message of social cohesiveness for both the sender and the recipient.

Our gift packs promote and demonstrate the principles of Biospherically Correct. All of the items in the gift packs are made from natural and organic ingredients sourced through sustainable supply. Eco-Processes

How well do the processes inherent in the manufacturing, packaging and distribution of this product sustain nature?

Biospherically Correct

Our gift packs are supplied to you in eco packaging which incorporates vegetable inks, biodegradable labels and recycled paper, while the pack components come in recyclable plastic or glass. Bottles come with a pump for re use as part of a refill purchase option, helping to reduce waste. Our self adhesive labels are made to be compostable and our printers participate in the Enviro Mark NZ Programme.

The supplier of our skin formulations is energy and environmentally conscious. All of their 'green' initiatives come under the umbrella of carefully written policies reflecting a commitment to recycling, energy conservation, emission free transport, toxin free products and a sustainable supply of raw ingredients.

The manufacturing of our hair care formulations is done by a company in New Zealand who use sustainable heating methods and have an on site waste water management plant. All paper packaging is re used, glass and plastic are recycled and organic waste composted.

A lack of Eco Processes surrounding everyday logistical issues and the associated reliance on fossil fuels, represents an area for improvement. Such progress will help to raise our gift pack range to a 2nd Generation Biospherically Correct product in the future.

Summary: Our eco processes reflect the ethos of reduce, recycle and reuse as part of our 'cradle to cradle' bio integration philosophy.
